Long Beach Comic Con 2015
It was a nice overcast weather the morning of September 12 as I get ready to check out the Long Beach comic con. As I park and make my way down the street I’m already seeing characters like Harley Quinn, Master Chief, Batman and its only 9am! I begin to work my way up the steps to see a lot of movie replica cars from iconic movies like Jurassic Park, Transformers, Cars and Knight Rider. As I make my way I’m glad to see there is lots of friendly staff and someone even opened the door for me as I got close. After I picked up my press badge from the short line I went got my guide and started to make my way into the panels. However as I make my way deeper into the halls I notice so many good and great cosplayers of all ages.
The dealers hall was where a lot of the action was I even broke my rule I usually have when I go to conventions not to buy anything. The vendors were really cool and in a chatty mood I ended up getting a Mega Man Zero fig-arts for a super cheap $35 about 10 less than online! I got a chance to see some great artists and meet new friends through an old college friend of mine I ran into. A lot of the local artists had a fun time and were happy that they were not pushed in the back like how often other conventions do. Then we have the reason most of the fans come the comics! As I was looking at the amazing deals to be had my friend scored 20 issues of Howard The Duck for only 5 dollars. As I finally made my way out of the amazing dealers hall with my shirt intact I made my way to the panels. As a lover of video games I was pleased to see a panel about getting into the industry and a 101 guide on how they got started. Then I worked my way into the super nerd trivia panel that was a nice way to make friends and sit with people gossip about the answers to the trivia questions the host asked and get a good laugh. I left quite happy and learned a bit of things I hadn’t before so I say that was a success I just wish it lasted longer than 1 hour. I caught the last bit of the cosplay photography panel right before I had went home.
All the things I got to do were very fun and I enjoyed meting up with old and new friends I made with such a great atmosphere and everyone being super friendly I felt right at home. Check out the Long beach Comic Con website for more details and when the next show will be.
