Metal Gear Solid 5
Bonus Coins 9.5/10
I start this review with a bit of sadness as I finish the last level and watch the credits I think to myself this is the end of Metal Gear. My first memories of Metal gear began with Hideo Kojimas entry into 3D with the release of Metal Gear Solid. As I watched my brother play this game I was thinking how cool it was and how the music sounded. Years later and after I beat the original on my own and with my PS2 I welcomed the next wave of Metal Gear games including Sons Of Liberty ,Snake Eater and the amazing Metal Gear Solid 4. To the pleasure when I heard that Kojima was going for one last ride in the series to tie up all the early entry series I was happy. So here we are
years later and the mystery of phantom pain revealed and the release of the preorder demo. I waited in line at my local GameStop in Huntington Beach since they were having an early 9pm launch. I get home get the game inside and I notice the problems of the server mind that I don’t care never been such a huge fan of online options I prefer to play a single player experience. So updates later and a reboot and I’m in the action. As I play through the initial missions it becomes clear that there is something missing. I feel it in every side mission and even in the dialog. Big Boss is thrown into a world of conflict against the Skulls and their leader Skull Face. I begin with the problems and things I didn’t like from the game. The grinding of boring levels in MGS5 was just awful. Some of the missions are very short to be even called missions. Also the intro mission all you do is walk around yet they deem that as mission 1 and another makes you go to base and knock people out and learn how to aim. Now another issue I have with this game and this is honestly the big one. After mission 30 the game just kind of gives up it does not continue to be fun it only serves to punish the player with extremely hard missions and in order to progress you must go through hell. At the same time the levels just repeat themselves with that bumped difficulty. I wouldn’t mind the hard levels but to just use the same missions again and deem them as their own is not very cool.
Now for some good! The music is fantastic just like every Metal Gear game before it the music helps set the mood, in addition to finding awesome 80’s hits including “Take On Me” from the band A-HA and “She Blinded Me With Science” by Thomas Dolby are just epic along with many others really help break the serious tone and drone the game has at times. The amount of customization is very big in MGS5 from color of your guns to the design of your logo, it really gives the player full control and options that work with their play style. The amount of enemies you face in the game are very sparse and most of the time they all look like the generic bad guy and leaves the player looking for more to see. This some around Big Boss has some company in the form of a buddy! During your game options become available on personal items and things you can take with you as you progress. From D Horse, Diamond Dog , Quiet and the prototype metal walker. I won’t reveal the plot to Metal Gear Solid 5 there are plenty of reviews to describe that and pages and pages and hours of video to explain that.
However, I will say MGS5 ties in the aftermath of peace walker and does offer explanation for Big Boss and his implications with outer heaven with some shocking reveals. You set up your Mother Base with troops and enemies you Fulton extract during your missions and volunteers you gain at the end of certain missions. Your mother base is used to gain levels on your development tree. With higher levels you are able to upgrade equipment make new gear and send out more troops during missions. You also gain more troops to help with the defense of your base during online gameplay conflict interactions.
Hideo Kojima leaves the beloved franchise with a final masterpiece. It’s sad to see one of my favorite franchises end. With the end of this review I will miss the fact thWith all the factors of Metal Gear solid 5 I do recommend this game to those that are fans of a tactical intelligent call of duty or looking to try something new. This game is very boring when you decide to shoot all enemies in your way very easy actually as not a ton of enemies are in your way to begin with and will not be heavily armed. With hours and hours’ worth of content you will get your money’s worth.at there will not be another Metal Gear. Kojima I thank you for providing and always delivering an excellent experience both visually and audibly. Here I stand years later and more mature to understand what an excellent saga you have left I wish you well with your next great adventure.

Bloodborne
Bonus Coins 9/10
Very rarely has a game come out and turn my expectations. In this Case Bloodborne is one of those games. Created by From Software and Japan Studio. Released in March you start in your quest by becoming the new hunter of Yharnam Finding out you must stop the nightmares that plague the land. From there you will die and die and die some more! You die all the time in this game no getting past that. You build your hunter by leveling up from the acquisition of blood echoes from defeated enemies.
The graphics are excellent very dark and gothic settings help add to the creepy factor in this lifeless world filled with beasts. The musical scores are very nice and somber not overpowering the action or what is taking place and all are combined to give the player a great experience.
Gameplay is tight and well balanced weapons work by customizing and leveling up with items you find.
The best way to have fun is to play casually and expect death funny but when you finally stop the venting and yelling and play knowing the fact it all of a sudden makes sense. Remembering Boss strategies and enemy patterns will be your friend. Play online with friends or other hunters and this will make the game progress much faster. Online multiplayer is nice and lets you side track from your main storyline and help you obtain blood and insight you can use for your story. Bloodborne's storyline gives about 20 hours of fun and can only go up from there if you enjoy doing every little thing possible in the game. With so much hype in videogames and very few games on the PS4 delivering this was a surprise that i am happy with and made my purchase enjoyable.
